Home Again.

On Friday the 13th of October 2006 I returned safely to the Twin Cities. I hope to post some last photos, a couple of audio tracks and to write a final entry or two wrapping up my Peace Corps experience in Kyrgyzstan. But for now, I am going to order a pizza and watch Sunday NFL football.

signing off,

Larry

  • Dear Larry,
First of all, let me apologize that I so long didn’t have any correspondence with you. How are you, dear brother?! Are you in the USA?
Last month Bethany wrote that she got married. What about you? :) Didn’t you yet…?
    So, what’s about me… I am still single
My studying in Germany was in august over. It was very interesting and useful for me. During my stay in Germany I got a great chance to visit dozens of German cities and other European countries. So I have been in France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Spain and on my return I spent three days in Turkey. It was wonderful journey!
Since August I am in Kyrgyzstan at home, looking for some good job. Last week I found classified ad through local newspaper that UNDP is seeking an employee for the position of Specialist for Peace and Development Programs. (www. un.org.kg)
The position seems to fit very well with my education, experience, and career interests. My experiences as social infrastructure program assistant by ACTED (Agency for Technical Cooperation and Development), instructor at the Osh State University and representative of dean on international affairs have equipped me with a multitude of skills. As you know, I did also participate in other intra- and extracurricular activities at international level.
So I´ll appreciate if you and Beth will give your references. I haven´t last month any contact with Bethany. If you have some, please tell her about references and please give my best regards.
Dear Larry, your references will be powerful backing for my application. One of the requirements: it should be given exact to the position which candidates are applying. Deadline is 02.05.2008
So that is all news and I am looking forward your next mail.
    Thanks a lot in advance!
Take care and warm regards from Osh!

  • Hi Larry,

I just happened upon your blog while searching for Kyrgyzstan, and it looks like you left and headed back to the Twin Cities. Are you still located there? I live in Minneapolis and I'll be moving to Kyrgyzstan in September to teach English. I have lots of questions about life there and I'd love to hear about it from someone who lived there! I hope to hear back from you.
    Thanks,
    Anna
